Choir! Choir! Choir! Sings CODE’s Praises

“On the 22nd day of Christmas, my true love gave to me … the wonderful gift of literacy!”

CODE is honoured to have recently been selected as a charity of choice by popular singing group Choir! Choir! Choir!. Newlyweds Mandy and Bryan are long-time members of the Toronto-based group and were recently asked by the choir's co-founders to select one of 25 charities to receive funds through its holiday campaign 25 Days of Charity! Charity! Charity!.

Mandy and Bryan fall leavesSince Bryan and I both work in Canada's literary community we knew that we wanted to select an organization promoting literacy and learning. We did a bit of research and selected CODE because it supports in-need communities in Canada and internationally. We admire the programs that provide support to libraries, professional development for teachers, access to technology, and encourage national and local publishing. We are glad CODE's Burt Awards exist to reward writers, while at the same time providing quality books to young people and promoting a love of reading."

Daveed Goldman and Nobu Adilman (AKA “DaBu”) started Choir! Choir! Choir! as a weekly drop in, no-commitment singing event in February 2011. Now happening twice weekly, and open to anyone who likes to sing new arrangements of pop songs, C!C!C! boasts a dedicated and passionate membership of inspired singers from in and around Toronto, Canada. They have performed live with Patti Smith at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Tegan and Sara on the Juno Awards, at TEDx Toronto 2014, and the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival Closing Gala at Roy Thompson Hall.
