CODE named one of Canada’s Top 100 Charities (2023)

Efficient, transparent, impactful – these are all words used by Charity Intelligence Canada to describe CODE. In fact, our efficiency, transparency, and impact are amongst the best in the country, which is why we were recently named one of Canada’s Top 100 Charities.

Having recently begun my tenure as CODE’s new CEO, I’m truly proud to be part of an organization that takes accountability – to donors, supporters, partners, and most importantly, the communities we serve – seriously. As a smaller organization, I can see that CODE values every donation, no matter the size. We ensure that 97% of every dollar donated goes straight to the programs and ultimately, the children.

The impact that we’re making together is, as a result, huge. Personally, I like to say that we’re punching above our weight. Just last year alone, we:

  • Distributed 550,960 books
  • Reached 506,157 children through literacy programs
  • Supported 10,285 teachers with professional development opportunities

Charity Intelligence independently analyzes hundreds of Canadian charities so Canadians can make informed giving decisions. They hand-picked CODE as one of the best, and I hope you’re as proud as I am to know that your hard-earned dollars are in good hands.

* Thanks to the generosity of a private foundation, your donations are not directed to fundraising costs. As a result, we’re able to allocate 97% of donations toward our programs to promote children’s literacy.
