None of what CODE does would be possible without the people who give their time and talent freely: board members, advisors, advocates in every community we work in. This month, we want to pause and say thank you to all our volunteers, and to shine a spotlight on one in particular: Lynne Dean, who we recently bid farewell to after a two-year tenure on the CODE Foundation Board.
As Lynne concludes her board service, we want her to know how much her leadership, time, governance expertise, energy, and passion meant to this organization, and to the children and teachers whose lives have been shaped by the programs she helped guide.
Lynne joined the CODE Board of Directors in 2014 and, in 2024, joined the CODE Foundation Board, serving there until 2026. During her years of service, she brought thoughtful leadership, sharp insight, and a steady belief in the power of education to change lives.
Lynne’s commitment to this mission has always gone well beyond the boardroom. In 2018, she climbed Mount Kilimanjaro with the Summit for Literacy team, organized by fellow volunteer Chris Bredt. She mobilized her own network of family, friends, and colleagues to support the climb, helping raise significant funds for our work along the way. It’s just one example of how she has shown up for CODE, again and again.
During her tenure, Lynne’s contributions helped strengthen CODE during a period of real growth and impact. She asked the important questions, challenged assumptions, set high standards, and shared her expertise generously. She championed this mission at every turn, and her guidance was deeply valued by fellow board members and staff.
Volunteers like Lynne are the backbone of our work. They don’t ask for recognition, but they deserve it, every single one of them. So, to Lynne, and to every volunteer who has given their time, talent and treasure to CODE over the years: thank you. Your dedication is the reason so many children today have the chance to read, to learn, and to thrive.
