In the fall (see original post below), we asked you to share the book that changed you. It was so wonderful to receive your notes back, and we wanted to share just a few of them.
“Seven Storey Mountain by Thomas Merton. It WOKE ME UP!”
“When I was very young the book that inspired me was Anne of Green Gables. I wanted to be as kind and good as she was. Also I admired her gumption and spirit. She was an inspiration which I aspire to. P.S. I’m still trying.”
“Nothing behind me, everything ahead of me, as is ever so on the road.” – Jack Kerouac
When I was 17 or 18 I read Kerouac’s On the Road and it honestly changed my life. I couldn’t wait to get out and see the world, it seemed to light a fire under me. It also woke me up to the power of great writing – I never looked at books the same again. Today, with your support, I revel in every opportunity to share this experience and make it possible for kids to see and understand the world around them in new ways. We can do this, we can share and advance literacy … together!
Tell us about a book that inspired and changed you.
