Hila is holding a lapdesk - distributed to under-resourced schools in Mozambique with CODE partner Associação Progresso.
Hila has been at CODE since 2011 and is our Director of International Programs. She oversees CODE’s international programming including the development and implementation of new programming initiatives.
Hila is from Calgary and, although she holds a BA in Political Science and an MA in International Affairs, she credits her primary education as having the greatest impact on her.
Hila firmly believes that education changes the way people think and that invention and discovery are rooted in education. “It reduces poverty and malnutrition, increases income and boosts economic growth. Education also fosters peace.”
Hila’s early reading favourites include Charlotte’s Web, Thomas’ Snowsuit, and just about every Dr. Seuss book ever written. When not working at CODE, Hila enjoys travelling, softball, and the occasional canoe trip. She is also an experienced dancer, gymnast and zipliner.
