Born in 1959 from a small church basement operation through which Dr. Roby Kidd and his friends shipped unused books to Africa in tea chests, CODE has grown into Canada's leading international development agency uniquely focused on education.
Dr. Roby Kidd and his colleagues establish Books for Developing Countries (BDC) and set out to ship donated books to Africa
The organization is renamed the Canadian Organization for Development through Education (CODE)
CODE wins a UNESCO International Literacy Award
CODE starts to support publishing around the world
The International Book Bank becomes a CODE affiliate
CODE receives the Government of Canada Literacy Innovation Award
