This World Literacy Day, September 8th, CODE is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Foglio, a Toronto-based book design and self-publishing company with a passion for bringing stories to life. Together, we are turning the page toward brighter futures for girls in Liberia through CODE’s Girls’ Accelerated Learning Initiative (GALI).
GALI is designed to give over-age girls a second chance at education. Many of these girls have started school late, faced pressure to drop out, or encountered barriers such as child marriage and poverty. Through academic tutoring, mentoring, and life skills support, GALI helps them catch up, often advancing two grade levels in just one year. GALI provides an academic lifeline for girls at high risk of dropping out and helps them continue their education.
As part of the partnership, Foglio will donate 10% of every publishing package sold directly to GALI. That means every author who publishes with Foglio will also be helping girls in Liberia claim their right to an education and a brighter future.
Just look at the impact:
$107 – 1 year of GALI for a girl
$348 – GALI workbooks for one school
$5,195 – a mobile learning lab for one school
We look forward to tracking progress together toward an initial $5,000 goal that will directly support girls’ accelerated learning in Liberia.
