Celebrating Nelson Mandela

On July 18th every year, the world celebrates Nelson Mandela International Day.

Launched in recognition of Nelson Mandela’s birthday on July 18, 2009 via unanimous decision of the UN General Assembly, it was inspired by a call Nelson Mandela made a year earlier, for the next generation to take on the burden of leadership in addressing the world’s social injustices when he said that “it is in your hands now”.

Mandela education quote

Mr. Mandela, like CODE, believed in education as a way of accessing a better future for all. That's why we will continue to strive, in our own way, to honour Madiba's legacy through our literacy work around the world.
